Forum Includes Keynote Address by Merck Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Michael Rosenblatt, M.D.
Horsham, PA (PRWEB) May 07, 2013
Merck Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Michael Rosenblatt, M.D., will discuss how big data may soon transform patient care at the DIA 2013 49th Annual Meeting in Boston, June 25. A panel discussion, Big Data: Impact on Innovation, will be moderated by Susan Dentzer, senior policy adviser, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and former editor-in-chief from the leading policy journal Health Affairs.
Big data, including comprehensive medical, patient, payer and real-world health outcome insights, present new opportunities to advance drug development and improve patient health; however, just like any other medical tool, they will require thoughtful, responsible use, Rosenblatt said. This important DIA conversation will explore how we reach common ground around the term big data, so that the scientific and medical communities distinguish fads from thoughtful approaches that ultimately will benefit patients.
Additional panelists include Marc Boutin, J.D., executive vice president and chief operating officer of the National Health Council; David W. Bates, M.D., M.Sc., senior vice president for quality and safety and chief quality officer of Brigham and Womens Hospital and the Brigham and Womens Physicians Organization; and Rachael Fleurence, Ph.D., acting director of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Methods and senior scientist at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
The expert discussion will help attendees from a wide range of global health industry sectors gain a greater sense of how big data impact their work, and learn how to effectively use big data to advance therapeutic innovation.
