So take your pick. :) SF is replete with culture and diversity and fantastic museums and (affordable) restaurants galore, not to mention great music. Nothing beats biking across the Golden Gate Bridge into the spectacular Golden Gate National Recreational Area, and the redwood forests will steal your breath away. Every neighborhood is a world in itself, and I even talking about Berkeley yet! But sadly, the water of Cali is too cold to swim in.
